Information note for participants in the fifty-sixth session of the Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights

The fifty-sixth session of the Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights will convene from 26 July to 13 August 2004 in Conference Room XVIII of the Palais des Nations, United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG).

The provisional agenda of the session is contained in document E/CN.4/Sub.2/2004/1 and the annotated agenda is contained in document (E/CN.4/Sub.2/2004/1/Add.1)

All documents issued for the meeting as of today can be collected at the counter of documents at door 40 of the Palais des Nations ( Tel. : +41 (0)22 917 49 00) or consulted on Internet at the following address: www.unhchr.ch .

Accreditation

States and organizations wishing to accredit representatives to the fifty-sixth session of the Sub-Commission are invited to send their request(s) to the Secretariat of the Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights for the attention of Ms. Kate Hardie ( Mail address : Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Room PW 1-036, Palais des Nations, 8-14 avenue de la Paix, CH-1211 Geneva 10; Tel. : +41 (0)22 917 92 56; Fax : +41 (0)22 917 90 11; E-mail address : khardie@ohchr.org) at their earliest convenience.

The Secretariat wishes to draw the attention to the following:

(a) Delegates from States, United Nations bodies, specialized agencies, intergovernmental and other organizations as well as NGO annual or temporary representatives in possession of an identity badge issued by the UNOG Security and Safety Section and valid for the duration of the session, will have unrestricted access to the conference rooms.

(b) Any other participants without a UNOG identity badge should apply in person as from Friday, 23 July 2004, to the Villa “Les Feuillantines” (13, avenue de la Paix – see map ); on presentation of an identity document and a copy of the letter of accreditation, a photo-badge valid for the duration of the Sub-Commission's session will be issued.

The accreditation office of the Sub-Commission at the Villa “Les Feuillantines” will be open from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday throughout the session.
