Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent - Country Visits
Pursuant to the mandate established by the Commission on Human Rights, the Working Group on People of African Descent has decided at its 4 th session (E/CN.4/2005/21, para. 98) to undertake country visits. Field missions are useful in facilitating the Working Group's in-depth understanding of the situation of people of African descent in various regions of the world and in enabling it to familiarize himself with the actual situation in a particular country through access to first-hand information and discussions with the parties concerned, whether the Government or civil society. Such missions are in no case designed to be inquisitorial; rather, they can enable the measures taken by a Government to for the elimination of racial discrimination against people of African descent to be better known.
