ACT Project Overview
ACT Project: Assisting Communities Together - Pilot phase 1998-1999

In July 2008 the sixth (2008-2010) phase of the ACT Project was launched to promote human rights education and training activities in 28 countries.

The sixth phase puts a special emphasis on activities related to human rights education in the primary and secondary school systems (including, for instance, material development/translation; workshop/training course for relevant authorities, teachers and other education personnel; school competitions and debates), although not exclusively supporting grants in this area. This is to create synergy with the World Programme for Human Rights Education (2005-ongoing), whose first phase (2005-2009) focuses on the primary and secondary school systems. The sixth phase of the ACT Project  also marks and contributes to the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (10 December 2008) as human rights education has a prominent role in the Declaration.

In principle, the time allocated to the grant recipients to carry out the funded activities is six months and the maximum amount available for each grant is 5,000 USD.
