Open-ended consultation on National Frameworks for the Implementation and Monitoring of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) hosted an open-ended consultation meeting on National Frameworks for the Implementation and Monitoring of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on 26 October 2009 in Geneva at the Palais des Nations, Room XII, from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00 hours.
Representatives of States, inter-governmental organizations, national human rights institutions and non-governmental organizations, in particular organizations of persons with disabilities attended the meeting.
The meeting formed part of the consultation process in preparation of a OHCHR study on the structure and role of national implementation and monitoring mechanisms, as per the request of the Human Rights Council with resolution 10/7 of March 2009. Consultation has also taken place through written submissions by States, national human rights institutions, civil society and other stakeholders, in response to a request by the Office of the High Commissioner.
