Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Eritrea

The Special Procedures are mechanisms of the Human Rights Council. They can be thematic or country-related. The title used to designate the mandate-holder on the situation of human rights in Eritrea is Special Rapporteur. The mandate was established in 2012 by Human Rights Council resolution 20/20.
Ms. Sheila B. Keetharuth (Mauritius) was appointed in October 2012 as the first Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Eritrea. She will submit her first report to the 23rd session of the Human Rights Council, in June 2013.
