Fourth meeting of States parties to the Convention on Migrant Workers in order to elect nine members of the Migrant Workers Committee

The fourth meeting of States parties to the International Convention on the Protection of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families (ICRMW) will be held on 3 December 2009 at the United Nations Headquarters. The purpose of the meeting is to elect five members of the Committee on the Protection of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families (CMW) to replace those whose terms of office will expire on 31 December 2009, as well as four new members following the entry into force of the Convention for the 41st State party on 1 July 2009.

Members are elected for a term of four years by States parties in accordance with article 72 of the Convention. Members serve in their personal capacity and may be re-elected if renominated.

States parties to the Convention were invited to nominate their candidates by 4 September 2009.
